HCES is proud to be a Golden School and a Five Star School. Both of these accomplishments would not be possible without our active ADDitions program. There are many ways to volunteer and enrich your child's education.
Accelerated Reader
Build reading comprehension in kindergarten and 1st-grade students. Volunteers read a book aloud with a small group of students and then help the students take a comprehension test on the computer.
Learning for Life
Character Education is an education that helps students in all areas of life. Learning for Life offers pre-made activities for all grade levels to teach many different character lessons, such as responsibility and respect. Lesson plans are also available in Spanish.
PAWS Publishing
Every student in the school becomes a published author through this program. Help students choose colors and layout the pictures and text for their original story.
Media Center
Help keep the media center running efficiently by shelving books and organizing materials.

For the safety of the children on our campus, please adhere to the following guidelines when volunteering on campus:
- Always sign in at the front office immediately upon arrival.
- Siblings are not allowed on campus when you are here to volunteer. Students deserve your undivided attention!
- Dress respectfully and in a way that will allow you to comfortably interact with young children in the classroom and outside. If you follow the same dress code as the students, you will be safe.
- Things you see or hear while at school should be kept in confidence. Do not talk about how a student behaved in school or how he/she performed on an assignment.
