The National Elementary Honor Society is a service organization that recognizes elementary scholars in both public and non-public elementary schools. Scholars are recognized for their outstanding academic achievement and demonstration of personal responsibility, to provide meaningful service to the school and community, and to develop essential leadership skills.

Fourth and fifth graders have the opportunity to be inducted into the Hunter’s Creek Elementary Chapter of the National Elementary Honor Society.  Scholars must meet certain criteria to be eligible for induction:

·  Scholars must have and maintain all A’s and B’s on their report cards for one semester.

·  They must receive all O's and/or S’s in social development, work habits, and special areas on their report card for one semester.

·  Each scholar must be nominated by their classroom teacher.

·  They must receive two teacher recommendations.

·  Scholars must be unanimously voted for induction by the selection committee.

·  Scholars cannot have any discipline referrals.

The selection process will take place after the 2nd nine weeks. A minimum GPA of 3.8 (all As and one B) and all S’s or O’s is required to maintain membership. The third and fourth marking period of the previous year will be used to determine initial eligibility. The requirement must be maintained throughout the year.

Selected scholars will be required to attend meetings once a month after school, complete one hour of community service per month, and participate in the service activities throughout the year.  We look forward to an exciting year of service to our community.
